It has become a cliché to talk of the global village but it is a fact that people today find it easier than ever to travel, communicate and trade all around the globe. Technology has made long distance travel and communication much cheaper and faster. Getting on a plane is now as common as getting on a train once was. Television, computers, the Internet and cell phones have made communication with distant lands as easy as talking to our immediate neighbour.

38th Meeting of the SEAMEO RELC Governing Board

The 38^th Governing Board Meeting of SEAMEO RELC was convened on 28 and 29 September 2009 at the RELC Building, Singapore.The two-day meeting focused on the reporting of the previous academic year’s accomplishments, emerging challenges and the future directions of the Centre. Progress reports presented at the meeting included the organizational review of the Centre and the Inaugural APEC-RELC International Seminar to be held on 19 to 21 April 2010.

Capacity Building Programme for Thai Master Teachers of Thailand

In 2008, SEAMEO RELC embarked on a Capacity Building Programme for Thai Master Teachers of English. With funding from Temasek Foundation, Singapore, SEAMEO RELC and the Office of Basic Education Commission (OBEC), Ministry of Education, Thailand, designed the programme and started the project in October.
