Interested to take up this exam?
RELC Examinations Bureau (RELC EB) has been approved by Cambridge Assessment Admission Testing to administer the Sixth Term Examination Paper (STEP) Mathematics for candidates currently attending or have graduated from a school/college/polytechnic in Singapore.
STEP Mathematics is a well-established Mathematics examination designed to test candidates on questions that are similar in style to Undergraduate Mathematics.
STEP is used by the University of Cambridge and the University of Warwick. Other universities sometimes ask candidates to take STEP as part of their offer – in such cases, the university can advise on which papers to take.
There are also a number of candidates who sit STEP papers as a challenge.
Important Announcement: 7th April 2020
Following the UK government announcement on 18 March that public examinations will not take place, Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing has been reviewing ways in which candidates can take STEP Mathematics safely, both within and outside the UK.
STEP 1 will not go ahead. For candidates who have already registered for this test paper, we will be contacting you on the refund.
For candidates who are required to take STEP 1 as part of your university offer, you are NOT expected to take either STEP 2 or STEP 3. If you are in any doubt, please contact your university directly for guidance.
STEP 2 and STEP 3
This notice only applies to candidates where STEP 2 and STEP 3 are a compulsory part of their university offer.
Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing is planning for STEP 2 and STEP 3 to go ahead on the test dates currently scheduled.
To ensure the safety of our candidates and Centres, Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing is looking into alternative methods to enable students to take the tests.
Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing will release more information about this by end of April.
The test consists of up to three 3-hour paper-based examinations: STEP 1, STEP 2 and STEP 3. Candidates are usually required to sit either one or two of the examinations, depending on the requirements of the universities they have applied to.
A lined answer booklet is provided for each paper. Graph paper is not provided, as the test requires only sketches, not detailed graphs. There is no longer a formulae booklet for STEP Mathematics examinations.
