Course Description

This course is specially tailored for parents of Primary Six pupils who wish to enhance their children’s performance in the PSLE.  Through hands-on interactive training and activities, parents will be thoroughly familiar with the demands, weighting, criteria and format of the PSLE English Language components.

This course will also equip parents with the necessary knowledge, skills and strategies for them to help their children better prepare for the PSLE EL papers.

Objectives

• Parents are familiar with and understand the demands of the PSLE EL Examinations.  

• Parents are better able to help their children in the four PSLE EL  components of Writing (Paper 1), Reading and Language Proficiency (Paper 2), Aural, (Paper 3) and Oral (Paper 4).  

• With informed guidance, parents can reduce the pressure of the PSLE upon their children 

• PSLE weighting, criteria and format of the four EL components.

• Dissecting, analyzing a sample of each PSLE EL Paper

• Listening Skills and Oral Competencies

• Tackling cloze and open-ended comprehension through critical reading tasks and reading strategies

• Different text-type stimuli in Situational Writing, criteria and tips

• Techniques and approaches to Picture Stimulus and Open-ended Situational Essay writing
