Dictionary of English Idioms and Idiomatic Expressions – UsingEnglish.com This is a reference of 1597 English idioms and idiomatic expressions with definitions, which makes learning of idioms easier for ESL students and learners. There are 3 sections in this particular site, mainly an A-Z listing of idioms, idioms classified according to categories, new idioms added periodically. English Idiomatic Expressions (Idioms) There are free online lessons, reviews and quizzes in idioms and idiomatic expressions available on this website. A unique feature, the Idiom Buster, presents a series of 20 random idioms and allows you to test your knowledge of those idioms listed. This site belongs to EnglishClub.com. The idioms listed are categorized under animal idioms, body idioms, colour idioms, clothing idioms, food idioms, geography and weather idioms , sports idioms. The meaning and an example are provided for each idiom. There are also quizzes available at each section to test one’s understanding. “The idioms in this collection are arranged in three ways. A definition and a sentence example are provided for each idiom listed. There are also quizzes for every one of them, which are targeted at students of English as a second language. The Idiom Site is part of the Bored.com network and is updated frequently. It offers historical information and explanation about the idioms themselves.
