More and more companies are looking for business opportunities in neighbouring markets and having a working knowledge of the languages of neighbouring countries is an essential tool for comfortable market entry.

The Southeast Asian language courses offered by SEAMEO RELC are specially tailored for those who have a minimal or no knowledge of these languages. The courses focus on those spoken/written aspects of the languages that will enable participants to communicate comfortably and effectively. In addition to language skills, the courses also give an insight into the pertinent social and cultural background of the countries, giving those attending that all-important business edge. The courses help participants build confidence and skills in using the languages for communication.

Types of Courses ^TOP

RELC offers courses in Business Arabic, Business Bahasa Melayu, Business Indonesia, Business Myanmar , Business Filipino, Business Thai and Business Vietnamese. The courses are offered at two levels as described below.

Business Communication: Level 1 (24 hours)

This is an introductory course. The course is designed for people with minimal or no prior experience in the language who wish to develop basic communication skills for use in business contexts. While the four language skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing are covered in the course, special emphasis is given to promoting course participants’ oral interactional skills.

Business Communication: Level 2 (24 hours)

This course is designed for people who have completed Business Communication Level 1 or those who have done an equivalent course elsewhere. The course content builds on what participants have acquired in the earlier level and seeks to further develop participants’ communication skills. The four language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing are covered in the course but emphasis is given to oral skills.

Course Lecturers ^TOP

The courses, conducted by native speakers, enable participants to communicate comfortably and effectively. Trainers adopt a practical, interactive approach using role-play and discussion. For optimum effectiveness, class size is also limited to a small number of participants.

Certification ^TOP

Certificates of Achievement would be awarded to participants who pass the examinations.Certificates of Attendance would be awarded to participants who do not complete examination requirements but have 75% of class attendance.

Course Fees ^TOP

The courses are 24 hours each and the fee per course is S$ 410.00 (fees are subject to the prevailing rate of GST).

Customized Courses ^TOP

We also conduct organization-based courses and the course schedule can be arranged to suit the organization
