English Language Programme for International Students

(5 WEEKS / LEVEL)

Course Description^TOP

This course is especially organized for international students aged thirteen and above who wish to upgrade their English proficiency.

 It focuses on key language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, and provides students with ample opportunities to use English in a variety of authentic communicative situations. The course also systematically guides students to improve their pronunciation, develop their vocabulary and refine their knowledge and usage of English grammar.

The course will be supplemented with an extensive reading programme where students will be able to select and read a set of high interest graded readers available in RELC’s well-stocked library. In addition, students will be given full access to RELC’s computer laboratories where they can further practice their newly acquired skills through our computer-assisted learning software.

Students will need to take a placement test so that they can be placed at the most appropriate level.

Certification ^TOP

Students will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement if they meet the following requirements:

  • pass the examinations at the end of each level
  • attend at least 90% of classes

Course Fees

Course Fees per level:

  • Registration Fee (one-time only, non-refundable)                                               S$100
  • Student Pass application
    (a) Administrative fee (for first time application)                                                   S$100
    (b) Administrative fee (for renewal)                                                                         S$  50  
    (c) Student Pass fee (payable to Immigration & Checkpoints Authority)         S$  60
  • Course Fees (including materials)                                                                         S$1,300

Fees are subject to the prevailing rate of GST

Payment Procedures

  • Students will be informed of the result of the Placement Test within a week of taking the test

  • They confirm their registration for the recommended level together with the payment of fees S$1,500 within the stipulated deadline.

  • The student will be required to pay the student pass fee of $60 to Immigration & Checkpoints Authority when collecting the student pass. 

  • Payment may be made by cheque or credit card.  Please note that the payment will not be processed until the course is confirmed. Cheques will be returned and credit cards will not be charged if the course is not conducted due to insufficient number of students. 

  • There will be no refund of fees for any withdrawals once the course is confirmed.

Students Visa Applications

Please submit the following documents for the student visa application:

  1. Immigration Form with 2 passport-size photographs

  2. Photocopies of educational certificates and birth certificate/notarized birth record

  3. Photocopy of passport showing your name, passport number and expiring date of passport

  4. Where documents are not in English, a certified translation into English should be also be submitted.
